First and foremost! I am so sorry for how long it has taken me to get this blog up. Things have been rushing around out here in Denver, and we finally have settled down! (and have internet now 🙂 )
So . . .
I had a week of YAV orientation in Stony Point, NY! It was amazing! It was wonderful to meet so many people who will be going through this adventure with me. I made so many new friends, and learned so much about dominant culture, YAV life, culture shock, self-care, food justice, and myself! I feel like I have brothers and sisters all over the world now, and I’m definitely going to miss them!
Stony Point is a beautiful campus and retreat center, and some of my favorite times there were spent outside reading, walking, or playing frisbee. We worshipped together, sang songs from all over the world, and really became a family.
Now as we disperse to share God’s love, we go together, just in our own directions, and that’s a beautiful thing!
I would ask that those of you who read this please pray for all of the Young Adult Volunteers all over the world this year, that they would be the hands and feet of Christ, and would see his face in the people and cities they serve.
